
DETAILED RULES:

All entrants must be 16 or older at the time of LITC in order to compete in the Cosplay Championship.

Online registration will open from 3/17/25 until 7/17/25.

At application each entrant must submit a minimum of one (1) reference image, two (2) images of the costume they wish to enter (with allowance for minor unfinished elements) and a written description which may offer details about the design and construction process, materials, and the choice of costume. At application the costume being entered should be 50% complete. If selected the costume description and facts provided will be used to create an introduction for the stage presentation. LITC reserves the right to edit introduction material for time and content.

Applicants may enter up to three (3) costumes. Each entry must be submitted individually, however up to one (1) entry may be accepted.

Group entries are not permitted.

Costumes must represent an existing or recognizable character. These include comic books, movies & television, video games, anime, and manga. Original Characters are not permitted.

At least 80% of the costume must be made solely by the entrant. Commissions and store bought items are permitted but will not be considered in judging. It is acceptable to use bought wigs, shoes, and accessories such as spectacles etc. Simple, largely insignificant base layers such as a leotard or pantyhose are similarly permitted.

Costumes must not have won any major award in any other competition. This includes first, second, third, or best in show placements. Judges awards or similar minor awards do not affect the status of your submission. SANDBAGGING is not allowed and anyone caught doing so will be banned from the competition & stripped of their titles.

The costume should not exceed 10ft in any one dimension, and the entrant should be able to safely move in the costume with limited assistance. The costume must not impede the cosplayer’s ability to get on and off stage. The LITC team reserve the right to intervene should they believe a costume is not safe or hazardous to participate on stage. Elements that may be hazardous include but are not limited to stilts, excessively large builds, roller skates, or masks/headgear that significantly limits field of vision, etc.

All costumes should provide enough coverage to be worn in public and should be in good taste and appropriate for a family-friendly show.

Costumes cannot be obscene or offensive, including insensitive or unnecessary use of makeup, nor endorse any form of hate or any hate group. Gore, graphic violence, or other objectionable elements may also be grounds for disqualification as determined by the judges and/or LI Tropic Con.

Entrants must appear in costume at the time of their judging. Construction or progress pictures should be brought by the entrant physically or electronically to their judging session. Failure to appear for judging will result in disqualification. If costumes are not fully completed upon submission, a build book must be presented at the time of judging.

Each Entrant will present their costume on stage. Music will be provided by the LITC Team.

Dangerous or messy stage effects such as fire, party poppers, confetti, glitter, fake blood, etc. are not permitted.

Stripping or other lewd/sexual behavior or gestures will not be tolerated.
